WEST CHESTER, Pa.- West Chester University women's rugby alum and All-American Autumn Czaplicki '22 continues to make her name on the global stage as the former Golden Ram was selected to the USA Rugby 7s team ahead of the HSBC Sevens Series in Perth, Australia this weekend.
Czaplicki has been in residence with USA 7s for the last two seasons in Chula Vista, California, at the National Training Center and makes her first National Team appearance this week at the Championships, which got underway on Thursday and continued during the overnight hours into Friday.
While the former Golden Ram makes her first appearance on the 7s squad this weekend, it will not be her first International Competition for Team USA as she has been a multiple-time selection to the 15s squad and has earned five caps with that team throughout her time in Chula Vista.
Czaplicki, who was an assistant coach with the Golden Rams during the fall 2022 season before departing for Chula Vista to begin her residency with USA Rugby 7's, had a stellar career wearing the Purple and Gold, ranking 12
th all-time in career points in 15's play, with 38 career trys, which also ranks seventh all-time in 15's history. She also ranks second in team history in points in 7's play with 286 on her career, including a program-record 56 trys in 7's action. One of the best players in recent memory, Czaplicki has accounted for the most points and trys in both 15's and 7's play since Lili Riley concluded her career in 2017-18.
Team USA is 2-0 on the weekend so far. It opened play at 11:06 eastern last night with a 21-19 win over Fiji before posting a 26-5 victory over Great Britain during the overnight hours on Friday.
