Women's Rugby Falls to Mount St. Mary's, 40-5

EMMITSBURG, Md.- The West Chester University women's rugby team (3-3) traveled to Mount St. Mary's (4-2-1) on Saturday morning to renew its rivalry with the Mountaineers. West Chester battled throughout the afternoon but fell to its hosts by a 40-5 final.

The Mount stormed out to an early 21-0 lead, scoring its final try of the first half with under a minute to play until the halftime break.

West Chester started the second half scoring when Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey Calavi, Benin/Moon Area) scored her first try of the afternoon to cut the deficit to 21-5 with just over 35 minutes to play in the match.

Unfortunately, this proved to be the final score of the match for West Chester as the Mount scored three more trys and added conversions after two of the three to post a 40-5 victory over the visiting Golden Rams.

Up Next

West Chester will be back in action next Saturday at Frostburg State in an important Divisional match beginning at 1 p.m.
