Women's Rugby to Visit Mount St. Mary's on Saturday Morning

EMMITSBURG, Md.- The West Chester University women's rugby team (3-2) is preparing for its next road test as the Golden Rams head to Maryland to take on Mount St. Mary's (3-2-1) on Saturday morning, beginning at 11 a.m.

West Chester picked up its second forfeit win of the season on Saturday with what officially went into the record books as a 5-0 forfeit win over Emory & Henry. West Chester also learned last week that its season-opening setback at Davenport was overturned into a forfeit win due to an ineligible player competing for the Panthers.

Emma Davies (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) leads West Chester in scoring with 34 points on the year, thanks to one try, 10 conversions, and three penalty kicks, while Christelle Adikpeto (Abomey-Calavi, Benin/Moon Township) is the team leader in trys with four for 20 points on the season.

On The Road Again

West Chester played its final home match of the regular season on Saturday in a Senior Day exhibition against Emory & Henry after the Wasps were forced to forfeit on Friday night due to a lack of players. West Chester will conclude its regular season with back-to-back trips to Maryland to take on Mount St. Mary's and Frostburg State before the NIRA Division II Tournament begins on November 15th.

Series History

West Chester holds a 5-1 series lead over Mount St. Mary's since 2017, including a 31-22 victory over the Mount in West Chester last November. West Chester has never lost to Mount St. Mary's in 15s play, boasting a 5-0 record in such matches, including a pair of wins in 2019 en route to its National Championship.

Scouting Mount St. Mary's

The Mount enters play on Saturday following its second road win of the year over Frostburg State back on October 5, when the Mountaineers prevailed by a 52-10 final. This win halted a two-match losing streak, which had seen the Mountaineers fall to Wheeling (62-0) and Queens (38-7). Mount St. Mary's started the year 2-0-1 with wins over La Salle (55-12) and Penn State (22-14) and a 17-17 tie against Sacred Heart.
