Women's Track and Field Competes at Widener Indoor Classic

PHILADELPHIA- The West Chester University women's track and field squad was back in action this weekend at the Widener Indoor Classic. Action began on Friday with throws events and concluded on Saturday evening with the remainder of the slate.

Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) clocked a season-best 7.78 to take fourth in the 60 meters and set a new PSAC Qualifying time.

Katja Laresen (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) led a trio of Golden Rams in the 200 with a personal-best time of 26.45 seconds, while Amanda Marquis (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) was 25th with a PR time of her own at 26.47.

Rebekah Burnshaw (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) took 28th in the 400 with a time of 1:01.63, which also served as a new PR.

Kristina Tapia (Ridley Park, Pa./Ridley) led West Chester in the 800 and mile, clocking times of 2:25.88 and 5:11.61, respectively. Her 5:11.61 was a new PR and was good enough for a 13th-place finish. Ellie Goldberg (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) joined Tapia in the top 20 of the mile with a PR time of 5:15.83 to take 18th, while Haley Dubois (Germansville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) hit a new PR with a time of 5:43.07. Tapia and Goldberg both hit PSAC Qualifying times on Saturday afternoon.

West Chester took fifth in the 4x400 relay in 4:03.56.

Jade Salmon (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chilli) took eighth in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet 11 inches (1.50m).

Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) finished fifth in the pole vault with a season-best matching 11-11 ¾ (3.65m), while Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) was eighth with a season-best mark of 10-11 ¾ (3.35m). Hummel and Donegan both hit PSAC Qualifying marks.

Zhayria Washington (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) took third in the weight throw with a mark of 50-8 ¼ (15.45m), while also finishing 10th in the shot put with a mark of 38-5 (11.71m). Washington's weight throw also served as a PSAC Qualifying mark.

Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 36-2 ¾ (11.04m), which was also a PSAC Qualifying mark.
