YORK, Pa.- The West Chester University women's swimming team jumped out to an early lead after the first day of the 2025 PSAC Swimming Championships at the Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pennsylvania. Thanks in part to a sweep of the top four spots in the 200 IM and a victory in the 800 free relay, West Chester finished the opening night of competition with 322 points and a 119-point (322-203) lead over Bloomsburg in second place after the first day.
Dani Stewart (Dover, Del./Caesar Rodney) and
Ditta Kowalik (State College, Pa./State College) took second and third in the 1000 free in 10 minutes and 18.73 seconds and 10:27.23, respectively.
Amy Masciulli (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) finished 10
th in 10:46.75.
West Chester captured the top four spots in the 200 IM, led by
Susana Ungo Quero (Madrid, Spain), who reached the wall in 2:04.15, narrowly beating out Isabella Kil (Enola, Pa./East Pennsboro), who took second in 2:04.16.
Madelyn Koehle (State College, Pa./State College) was third in 2:04.62, while
Anna Evans (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was fourth in 2:06.24.
Lenya Ryan (Wilmington, Del./Mt. Pleasant) turned in a sixth-place finish in 2:07.47, while
Molly Hubal (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) was ninth in 2:08.50.
Sam Trumble (Dallastown, Pa./Dallastown) finished fourth in the 50 free in 23.43 seconds.
West Chester ended its night with a victory in the 800 freestyle relay as the quartet of Ungo Quero, Koehle, Stewart, and Kil touched the wall in 7:35.08 to help West Chester jump out to an early lead after the opening day of competition.
West Chester will be back in action tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Prelims will include the 100 butterfly, the 400 IM, and 200 freestyle. The evening session will include the addition of the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay.
