Power Surge

West Chester has scored 45 goals through its first two games, entering play on Sunday afternoon averaging 22.5 goals per game on the season.

It’s An Honor

Barnett earned PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors this week as the Golden Rams' first weekly award winner of the 2025 season.

Rank and File

After debuting as a consensus No. 5 in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and USA Lacrosse Magazine polls last week, West Chester moved into fourth this week after opening its season with a dominant victory over Roberts Wesleyan.

Home Sweet Home

This weekend’s games are the second and third games and home games of the year for West Chester. They are also the second and third home games of an eight-game homestand to open the season for the Golden Rams.

Honoring Rossi

Each week, West Chester bestows the No. 25 practice jersey on a player who, in honor of their former teammate, embodies the work ethic and passion that Golden Ram alum Julia Rossi had for the game. Captain Kendall DiCamillo (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) is the player selected to wear the no. 25 jersey on game day throughout the 2025 season as she works to honor and carry on Julia Rossi's legacy, which West Chester honored with its second annual Julia Rossi tribute game on Saturday vs Roberts Wesleyan. Coincidentally, WCU and Roberts combined to score 25 goals in this game last Saturday afternoon.

Series History

West Chester is 3-0 vs Bentley since the first meeting between the two teams in 2006. West Chester opened the series with a 20-7 victory in March of 2006 before capturing a 17-13 win in West Chester in February 2023. The Golden Rams renewed the series with their first trip to Waltham, Massachusetts, in March of last year, escaping Bentley with a narrow 14-11 victory. The Golden Rams average 17 goals per game in their series vs the Falcons with the most significant margin of victory being that 17-3 win on Vonnie Gros two years ago.

Scouting Bentley

No. 17 Bentley (1-1) fell to No.15 Kutztown by a 16-11 final on Friday evening in Kutztown. The Falcons trailed 5-1 after the first quarter but battled back to score 10 goals in the next three quarters, keeping the game close throughout the afternoon. Maeve Johnson and Amanda Davis scored three goals each, and Johnson added three assists for a team-best six points. Ashlee Wargo made 10 saves in goal in an attempt to limit the Golden Bear offense. Kutztown ended the game with a 38-33 lead in shots and a 15-13 lead in groundballs, while Bentley finished the afternoon with a 16-14 lead in draw controls. Both sides committed 14 turnovers as Bentley was 13-for-17 on clear attempts, while Kutztown was 18-for-24.

Entering play averaging 11.0 goals per game, Bentley will need to continue to be strong on its clear attempts (33-for-39; .846) on the season and make the most of any free-position attempts (7-for-11; .636) to keep pace with the high-powered Golden Ram offense on Sunday afternoon in West Chester. Ashlee Wargo will likely face her most demanding test of the season to date on Sunday as the senior goalkeeper enters play with a 10.86 goals-against average and 14 saves on the year with a .424 save percentage in 105 minutes of work. Offensively, Maeve Johnson leads the team in goals and points with nine goals and three assists for 12 points, while Amanda Davis is second on the squad, in goals with seven goals and one assist for eight points. Caitlin Keenan leads the team in assists with four and two goals for six points on the year.
