Scouting Bryn Mawr

Bryn Mawr enters Thursday’s match at 4-2 on the year, although the Owls are just 1-2 in the new year, including a 4-3 win over Goucher on March 7 with losses to Virginia Wesleyan (5-2) and Salisbury (7-0) since. Bryn Mawr is 1-0 vs Division II competition, defeating Shippensburg by a 6-1 final on October 2 in its final match of the fall season. At Salisbury last Monday, Claire Emanuel nearly won a point for the Olws, taking her match to a decisive third set with a 6-4 second-set victory to erase a 6-3 opening-set loss, but fell by a 1-0 (10-4) final in the third set.

Emamuel and Sophie Fenster are tied for the team lead in wins and 4-2 and 4-1 on the year, as Emanuel is 1-0 in third singles, 1-1 in fourth singles, and 2-1 in fifth singles, despite losing each of her last two matches, while Fenster is 4-1 at first singles after seeing her fourth-match winning streak halted last Monday. In doubles, the pairing of Kelli Eng and Lorey West is 3-0, including a pair of second doubles wins and a first doubles victory. Fenster has played with a variety of teammates at first doubles this year and shows a record of 4-1 in first doubles and 5-1 overall, including a second doubles win alongside Gionna Zhang earlier in the campaign.
