WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's track and field team got its 2025 Outdoor season underway this weekend at the Purple and Gold Open at home as the Golden Rams welcomed a strong local field to South Campus for a busy weekend. West Chester impressed throughout the weekend earned its first team title of the spring with 214 points to its name and a host of event victories.
Lily Palacio Lewis (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and
Katja Larsen (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) took first and second in the 100 in 12.58 and 12.93 seconds.
Ava Mills (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) finished fourth in 13.31 seconds.
West Chester also landed four Golden Rams in the top 10 of the 200 as Palacio Lewis took first in 25.78 seconds, while
Amanda Marquis (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette), Genevieve McDonald (Elizabethtown, Pa./Elizabethtown), and
Gabby Curtis (Harrisburg, Pa./C.D. East) were third, fourth, and sixth in 26.32, 26.50, and 27.06 seconds.
Haley Dubois (Germansville, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh) finished 12
th in the 1500 in 5:17.06.
Cate Hildebrand (Chalfont, Pa./C.B. South), Marquis, and Leah Wasko swept the top three spots in the 100 hurdles in 15.80, 16.66, and 17.51 seconds.
Jade Williams (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) and
Kamryn Fontaine (DuBois, Pa./DuBois Area) took second and fourth in the 400 hurdles in 1:11.05 and 1:12.80, respectively.
West Chester also won the 4x100 relay in 48.41 seconds and took second in the 4x400 relay in 4:32.97.
Marquis was 11
th in the high jump with a mark of 4 feet 2 inches (1.27m).
West Chester also took the top four spots in the pole vault as
Annika Hummel (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg),
Emily Donegan (Hershey, Pa./Hershey), Hannah LaFave (), and Keira Gilboy (Macungie, Pa./Emmaus) took the top four spots with marks of 11-9 ¾ (3.6m), 10-10 (3.3m), 10-4 (3.15m), and 8-10 ¼ (2.7m).
Katie Pieslak (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) started her weekend with a victory in the triple jump with a mark of 35-8 ¾ (10.89m) before taking second in the long jump with a mark of 16-5 ¼ (5.01m).
Zhayria Washington (West Chester, Pa./Rustin) also had a strong start to her spring, taking first in the hammer with a mark of 147-10 on Friday before finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 38-6 ¼ (11.74m) on Saturday.
Emma Deyarmin (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) took sixth in the discus with a mark of 110-10 (33.78m), while
Tiffany Kuras (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) led a trio of Golden Rams in the top five in the javelin with a mark of 124-8 (38.00m), while
Kayla Lockburner (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and
Jaclyn Borcky (Folsom, Pa./Ridley) were third and fifth with marks of 118-10 (36.22m) and 105-5 (32.13m), respectively.
West Chester will be back in action next weekend at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener.
