Box Score Buckhannon, WVA – Visiting West Chester took all three doubles matches, but host West Virginia Wesleyan rebounded with wins in all six singles matches to take a 6-1 victory in a non-league women's tennis match Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (3-9) dropped its third straight match while West Virginia Wesleyan (3-9) won its second straight match for the first time this spring.
Delaney Tingle (Charlotte, N.C./Palm Desert) and
Alexandra Cave (Greenmeadows, Napier New Zealand) were 6-4 winners at first doubles while
Gabriella Lerario dos Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Felicia Manful (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) were 7-6 (7-4) winners at second doubles.
Sohana Thompson (Fairfield, Ohio/The Seven Hills School) and
Ashleigh Grooms (Newport, Ky./The Summit Country Day School) were 6-4 winners at third doubles.
West Chester dropped all six singles. However, Grooms pushed her opponent to a tie-breaker at second singles while
Rachel Haupt (York, Pa./Central York) did the same at sixth singles.
