WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's track and field squad was back in action this week in West Chester on Friday and Saturday for the annual Bill Butler Invitational. West Chester impressed throughout the two-day meet in honor of its legendary mentor, who passed away earlier this year, finishing third with 93 points to its name as the top Division II program in the field.
In the 100,
Ava Mills took second in 12.75 seconds, while
Jade Williams finished 10
th in the 400 in 1:06.11.
Rebecca Kramer led the Golden Rams in the 800 with a sixth-place finish in 2:30.44, while Haley DuBois led the team in the 1500 with a sixth-place finish of her own in 5:11.84.
Cate Hilebrand added a second-place finish in the 100 hurdles in 16.03 seconds.
West Chester also finished second in 4x400 relay in 4:38.97 to conclude a busy day on the track.
Zhayria Washington led West Chester in the shot put with a victory thanks to a mark of 41 feet 2 ¾ inches (12.57 meters), while
Emma Deyarmin was third at 36-5 ¼ (11.11m).
Washington and Deyarmin also led West Chester in the discus, finishing third and sixth with marks of 118-6 ½ (36.13m) and 111-1 (33.86m), respectively.
Adrianna Bryant led the Golden Rams in the hammer with a third-place finish and a mark of 134-7 (41.02m), while Washington and Deyarmin were fourth and seventh with marks of 127-5 ½ (38.85m) and 114-0 ½ (34.76m), respectively.
West Chester placed five Golden Rams in the top of 10 of the javelin as
Tiffany Kuras won the event with a mark of 115-8 ½ (35.27m), while
Kayla Lockburner was second (114-11 ½ ; 35.04m),
Jaclyn Borcky was fourth (100-1 ¼; 30.51m),
Gardenia Mikhail was seventh (91-7 ¼ ; 27.92m), and
Alyson Vogt was 10
th (84-5 ¾ ; 25.75m).
West Chester will be back in action tomorrow and Monday as the Golden Rams, led by
Amanda Marquis, compete in the heptathlon beginning tomorrow.
