Men's Track and Field Set for Paul Donahue Invitational

CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University men's track and field team is preparing to return to action this weekend at the Paul Donahue Invitational at Widener University on Friday and Saturday. Action is slated to begin on Friday afternoon with field events at 2:30 before getting back underway at 9 a.m.

West Chester returns to action after a strong showing at the Bill Butler Invitational and Bison Outdoor Classic last weekend and more excellent performances at the Shippensburg Midweek PR Bonanza on Wednesday afternoon in field event action.

Last Weekend

Bill Butler Invitational

Ronald Leraris and Will Rivers took first and third in the 100 meters in 11.00 and 11.06 seconds, while Leraris also took third in the 200 in 22.73 seconds.

Colin Kelly led West Chester in the 800, finishing 11th in 2:05.93, while Sean Fisher led the Golden Rams in the 1500 with a 17th-place finish in 4:20.01.

David Burnshaw continued what has been an excellent spring season with a second-place finish in 59.30 seconds.

West Chester took third in 4x800 relay in a time of 8:48.18.

Derrick Lukomski Pizzo was first in the shot put with a mark of 48 feet 1 ½ inches (14.67 meters), while also winning the discus with a mark of 163-3 (49.76 meters).

Ben Thornton led West Chester in the hammer with a third-place finish in 138-7 ¾ (42.26m) while Lukomski-Pizzo was close behind in fourth with a mark of 136-5 ¼ (41.59m).

Collin Niedrowski led West Chester in the javelin with a mark of 165-8 ¼ (50.50m), while Wolfert was fifth with a mark of 148-0 ¾ (45.13m).

Bison Outdoor Classic

Competing late into the night on Saturday, Josh Miller took 41st in the Invite 10k in a time of 30 minutes and 54.03 seconds.

On Sunday, Will Rivers took ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 45-10 (13.97m).  Devin Carlson Swank took ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 13-11 ¾ (4.26m).

David Burnshaw led West Chester in the 400 in 50.05 seconds, while Amarre Mayo finished 16th in the 200 in 21.78 seconds to lead the Golden Rams in this event.

Shippensburg PR Bonanza

Sammy Jenkins took fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet 9 ¼ inches (4.20m).

Derrick Lukomski-Pizzo took first in the discus with a mark of 175-5 (53.48m), before finishing 10th in the hammer throw with a mark of 136-9 (41.69m). 

Lukomski Pizzo also finished seventh in the shot put with a mark of 47-4 ½ (14.44m).

Ben Thornton took 11th in the hammer with a mark of 132-0 (40.24m).

Collin Niedrowski took fourth in the javelin with a mark of 174-11 (53.32m), while Brody Wolfert was 12th with a mark of 146-1 (44.52m).

Up Next

Following the Paul Donahue Invitational next week, West Chester will send a contingent to the University of Pennsylvania for the 129th Penn Relays.
