Demesy and Nagy Named to PhillySIDA Academic All-Area Squad

Full Release
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-
The Philadelphia Sports Information Directors Association (PhillySIDA) released its Men's Swimming & Diving Academic All-District team on Monday afternoon, and West Chester had two honorees as Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) and Kolos Nagy (Szazhalombatta, Hungary) both earned spots on the team.

Demesey and Nagy are two of 10 student-athletes on the 2025 Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Men's Swimming & Diving Team, which is selected through voting conducted by the sports information offices of 30 institutions in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least their second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better.
West Chester is one of just three schools to have multiple honorees on the squad, with Villanova and Swarthmore being the other two programs with multiple honorees.

This is just the latest postseason honor for Nagy as he was also named a Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree and became the first Golden Ram male swimmer to earn PSAC Winter Top-10 award honors since Dylan North in 2018-19.

Nagy, the Swimmer of the Meet at the 2025 PSAC Championships, was a four-time finalist and three-time Champion in the conference meet, claiming conference crowns in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 200 back in 1:47.96, 3:53.61, and 1:47.16, respectively. Nagy also took third in the 500 free in 4:28.40. At the Division II National Championships, Nagy competed in the 500 free, 200 back, 200 IM, and 400 IM, advancing to the evening finals in the 400 IM, where he finished 10th in 3:52.71, to earn Honorable Mention All-America honors. Nagy also set a new conference record in the 200 back, touching the wall in 1:46.08.

For Demesy, this recognition is a new addition to his growing trophy case as the three-time PSAC Champion repeated as PSAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Year earlier this year.

Demesy was a three-time Champion at the PSAC Championships, finishing first in the 500, 1000, and 1650 freestyles in 4 minutes and 25.23 seconds, 9:04.40, and 15:14.83, respectively. Demesy followed this up with three All-America certificates at the NCAA Division II Championships, earning First Team honors in the 1000 and 1650 freestyle with times of 9:01.47 and 15:04.21, respectively, to finish fourth and second. The junior also earned Honorable Mention honors for a 10th-place finish in the 500 free.  Demesy also set new PSAC records in both the 1000 and 1650 free at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Olympian Matt Fallon of the University of Pennsylvania earned PhillySIDA Men's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
