No. 1/2 West Chester Visits Bloomsburg in Regular Season Finale Saturday

Bloomsburg, Pa.- The No. 1/2 West Chester University women's lacrosse team (15-0,11-0 PSAC East) is preparing to return to action on Saturday afternoon at Bloomsburg University (7-9, 3-8) in the final regular season game in 2025, beginning at 1 p.m.

POSTSEASON OUTLOOK; PSAC CHAMPS
The Golden Rams wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Division of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and will receive a bye in the quarterfinals of the postseason tournament while hosting the semifinals and conference championship game at Vonnie Gros Field on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4, respectively. It marks the third straight year in which the Golden Rams have won the Eastern Division and the sixth time overall in the seven years that the PSAC has split into divisions.
 
NCAA ATLANTIC REGION RANKINGS
WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The NCAA Division II women's lacrosse team committee released its second set of regional rankings and first numbered set of the season on Wednesday afternoon. No. 1/2 West Chester (15-0, 11-0) was ranked first in the latest regional rankings as the final week of the regular season continues.

With one game to play (including today's clash at Bloomsburg), West Chester remains the lone unbeaten team in Division II women's lacrosse and leads the rankings as one of five PSAC teams in the top six and one of six on the eight-team list.

WEST CHESTER, PA – Host West Chester scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back en route to a 20-5 victory over visiting Shepherd in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division women's lacrosse contest on a sun splashed Vonnie Gros Field Wednesday afternoon.
 
West Chester's defense caused 17 turnovers against a short-handed Shepherd squad that was down two regular starters. West Chester, which has already wrapped up the Eastern Division regular-season crown, remained unbeaten on the year at 15-0 overall and 11-0 in the conference. Shepherd fell to 4-11 overall and 1-10 in the league.
 
Sophomore attacker Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove) notched her 100th career goal in the win. She finished with a hat trick in the contest to go along with seven ground balls and six draw controls. Teammate Keri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) netted five goals and finished with eight points. She had five ground balls and caused six turnovers. Barnett potted her team-high 90th goal of the season to become just the third different player to reach that milestone in a single season. She is three back of the school record held by Kathleen Sheehan (93 in 2004). She joins former teammate Hannah Stanislawczyk (92 in both 2023 and 2024) and Katelyn Martin (91 in 2006) in the 90-goal club.
 
Kendall Fortune (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) posted a hat trick and finished with four points like Wasdick had. Audrey Miller (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), Lila McMahon Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) and Grace Rosica (Dublin, Pa./Pennridge) each scored a pair of goals as well. Piper Hammond (Tucson, Ariz./Southridge [Ore.]) contributed a goal and an assist and had three ground balls.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Morgan Koons (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) got the start in the cage and made one save through the first three quarters to pick up her fifth win of the season. Sophomore Hannah Cornelius (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) made one save in the fourth quarter to close out the game.
 
WEST CHESTER'S RECORD WATCH
Senior Keri Barnett is closing in on the all-time single-season goal scoring mark at West Chester University. The midfielder became just the fourth player in school history to notch 90 goals in a season with her five-goal effort against Shepherd on Wednesday. The school record for goals in a season is held by Kathleen Sheehan, who scored 93 goals in 2004. Barnett's teammate her first three years at the school, Hannah Stanislawczyk, scored 92 goals in both 2023 and 2024. Katelyn Martin, who scored 91 goals in 2006, is next on the list ahead of Barnett.

Additionally, Barnett now has 115 points on the season, which ties another former teammate, Lindsay Monigle, for eighth on that all-time list. Barnett is working her way up the single-season point scoring list with her eye on Steph Kienle's all-time record of 143 points in 2008 well within reach.

Lastly, Barnett is now tied for seventh on the school's list for caused turnovers in a single-season with Molly Reinhart. She is climbing that defensive chart as well with a goal of becoming just the fourth player to force 50+ turnovers in a season in school history.

Series History
West Chester is 49-7 all-time against Bloomsburg and is currently riding a 14-game winning streak against the Huskies into Saturday's showdown. Bloomsburg has not beaten West Chester since 2015. The Golden Rams are 17-4 all-time on the road against the Huskies and have won the last six meetings at Steph Pettit Stadium. Bloomsburg has not beaten West Chester on its home field since 2014.
 
In the matchup between these two conference rivals earlier in the year, Barnett led the scoring with eight goals and Lila McMahon Skates potted a season-high four tallies. Hannah Cornelius got the start in the cage and played the first three quarters to earn the win while making three saves.
 
Scouting Bloomsburg
Bloomsburg defeated Shepherd, 21-12, last weekend to halt a four-game losing streak that began with a loss at West Chester. Sophomore Marykate Sitko scored five times with Mia Boccippio notched four for the Huskies in the win. Lauren Foley made 14 saves going the distance in the cage for the win. Bloomsburg sits in sixth place in the Easter Division standings and out of playoff contention. Saturday is the finale for the Huskies and its senior class, which includes both Boccippio and Foley. Senior attacker, Tori Bruno, ranks sixth in the PSAC in assists per game.

West Chester will host the semifinals and conference championship game of the PSAC Tournament at Vonnie Gros Field on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4, respectively. The first round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday, April 29. East Stroudsburg (the second seeded team in the Eastern Division) will host the third seeded team with the winner advancing to the semifinals at West Chester. Seton Hill (the second seeded team in the Western Division) will host Lock Haven (the third seeded team in the Western Division) with the winner advancing to the semifinals at West Chester. The top seed in the West (Slippery Rock) advances to West Chester after receiving a first-round bye.
