WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Riding a three-match winning streak, the West Chester University women's volleyball team (7-1) will look to run its streak back to four in a row on Friday night when non-league foe Caldwell (0-8) visits Hollinger Field House for a 6 p.m. start.

Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) registered 14 kills to help lead the West Chester University women's volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Bowie State on Tuesday evening in Maryland. West Chester jumped out to a 2-0 lead, 25-19 and 25-23 victories in the first two sets, before Bowie State answered back with 25-21 and 28-26 victories to force a fifth set. The fifth set remained tight, but West Chester went on a late run to escape with a 15-13 victory and a 3-2 win in the match.

Elianna Freeman (Jersey Village, TX/Jersey Village) leads the team in digs with 80, followed by Brown and Richardson with 79 and 70, respectively.

Lane was named PSAC East Athlete of the Week in recognition of her outstanding performance in four matches a week ago. Last week, Lane recorded 51 kills and 29 digs and hit north of .300 in three of four matches to help West Chester improve to 6-1 heading into its eventual win over Bowie State on Tuesday night.
Working Late
West Chester has played in two five-set matches in its last four matches entering play on Friday night. The Golden Rams fought back last Friday night at Molloy from a 2-0 deficit before falling in five sets, and fended off Bowie State on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs tried to battle back from a 2-0 deficit.
Hello Old Friend
West Chester will open league play next Wednesday night against familiar foe Millersville, beginning at 7 p.m. Millersville has grown quite comfortable in Hollinger Field House this year, as the Marauders also came to West Chester for the PSAC East Kickoff Tournament on opening weekend, going 2-1 against Dominican, Charleston, and Georgian Court to open the season.
Series History
West Chester is 6-1 against Caldwell since the first known meeting in 2013. The Golden Rams lost a five-set stunner to Caldwell in Hollinger in October 2023 but bounced back with a 3-0 victory at Caldwell in September.
Scouting Caldwell
Caldwell enters play on Friday night still in search of its first win of the season as the Cougars are 0-8 on the year, with six of those eight losses coming in straight sets. The Cougars will play for the third time this week on Friday night at West Chester, following their home games against Queens (N.Y.) and Post on Tuesday and Wednesday, where they fell 3-1 to Queens and 3-0 to Post in their CACC opener.
Wyette Schubert-Brown is first on the team in kills with 64, while Jordan Mack leads the team in assists (100) and aces (12). Ava Railton is first on the team in digs with 66, while Meredith Gatz leads the team in blocks with 10. Gatz is also third on the team in kills with 48.
