Opening Up

After narrowly missing out on a spot in the PSAC Tournament a year ago, the West Chester University women's tennis team returns to action in 2025 with renewed energy as the team looks to ensure last season was an anomaly and not the beginning of a trend. West Chester has a busy fall slate ahead as the team will open play tomorrow before visiting Chestnut Hill and Bryn Mawr on October 7 and 9, with a visit to St. Thomas Aquinas on October 21 as the final dual match of the fall. Before the team can shift its attention to Chestnut Hill, West Chester will visit Bloomsburg next week for the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by the Huskies.

Roster Check

West Chester has a veteran roster in 2025-26 as Alexandra Cave, Ashleigh Grooms, Rachel Haupt, Felicia Manful, Ellie Perrin, Sohana Thompson, and Delaney Tingle all return to the squad this season. West Chester also welcomes a pair of talented newcomers in Brigitte Gravelle and Lina Kroeger.

Scouting Albright

Albright enters play on Wednesday with a record of 1-1 on the season after defeating Penn State Berks 7-0 on September 10 and falling to Washington College on September 13. The team was in action on Saturday in Tournament play at Ursinus, where they went a perfect 10-0 across singles and doubles play against Alvernia and Ursinus.

Elicia Aponte is 1-1 on the year at second singles, while Allison Horic and Nadia Margaritov are both 2-0 in singles play at third, fourth, and fifth singles, respectively. Michelle Timothy is 1-1 in first singles play as well.

In doubles action, Aponte and Timothy are 1-0 at first doubles, while the duo of Kaelyn Davis and Daniela Diez is 1-0 at second doubles.

Weather Report

Conditions appear favorable for tennis tomorrow with temperatures hovering in the low 80s under mostly cloudy skies.
