West Chester improved to 8-1 on the year and ran its winning streak to four in a row last Friday night against Caldwell as the Golden Rams held off the upset-minded Cougars for a 3-0 victory in Hollinger Field House. It wasn't always easy for West Chester on Friday night as the Golden Rams had to battle in each set, but the hosts found a way, prevailing by 25-23, 25-21, and 25-22 finals.
Abiah Lane (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion), who earned PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors last week, led the team in kills with 13, while
Ashlyn Oswald (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) came away with 10 of her own to help lead the Golden Rams to victory. West Chester recorded 11 aces in the win, including four each from
Bria Stepp (Cranberry Twp, Pa./Seneca Valley) and
Megan Wolfe (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove).

West Chester is a perfect 5-0 at home this season and has yet to drop a set in Hollinger, going 15-0 on its home court. The Golden Rams have dropped just five sets all season to this point, falling 3-2 at Molloy on September 12 before dropping a pair of sets late in a 3-2 victory over Bowie State last Tuesday night.

West Chester holds a 35-33 lead in the all-time series over Millersville, including a 24-9 lead since 2007. West Chester dropped both matches to the Marauders a year ago, including the Golden Rams' first loss to Millersville in Hollinger since 2019. With these setbacks, Millersville has now won three of the last five meetings after West Chester had won five in a row from 2021 until September 2023.
Scouting Millersville
Millersville (4-8) returns to Hollinger Field House on Wednesday night after opening the season in West Chester in early September. When the Marauders first visited the Golden Rams' home on University Ave, they went 2-1 on the weekend with wins over Dominican and Georgian Court sandwiched around a 3-0 loss at the hands of Charleston. Since that time, Millersville endured a five-match losing streak, which included a 3-1 home loss to Goldey-Beacom and setbacks against Colorado at Colorado Springs, Western Colorado, Jamestown, and Western New Mexico. Millersville returned home and defeated Lincoln last Wednesday night by a 3-0 final before falling to Southern Connecticut State and Jefferson at Jefferson on Saturday by 3-2 and 3-1 finals.
Taylor Welter leads Millersville in kills with 144, while Alex Nava is second with 80. Trinity Baldwin leads the Marauders in assists with 282 and is second in both digs and aces with 82 and 12, respectively. Becca Hartranft leads the team in aces and digs with 23 and 181, while Caroline Halsey is first in blocks with 22 rejections through 12 matches.
