JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) led West Chester in both rounds, carding a two-under 68 in the first round and an even-par 70 in the second round to sit seventh on the individual leaderboard and lead the West Chester University men's golf team on the opening day of the Sunnehanna Collegiate. West Chester is tied for fifth on the team leaderboard after 36 holes with a team score of 569, just four strokes out of second place and 13 strokes out of first. West Chester shot an opening round 278 to sit in second on the team leaderboard heading into the afternoon but shot a 291 in the second round to slip into a tie for fifth with Charleston, Indiana (Pa.), and Wheeling.
Carl
, Yamato Kimura (Kuwana Mie, Japan/Monteverde Academy), and Nathan Radwanski (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) had a strong start to the week as they all signed for 68's finishing the first round at two-under par. Carl carded two birdies on the front nine (par-four third and par-four sixth) with two more on the back nine, including the par-three 16
th and par-five 11
th. Kimura carded three birdies on the front nine, registering a birdie on the par-four third, par-four sixth, and par-five ninth, with three more on the back nine, including the par-three 10
th, par-five 11
th, and par-four 13
th. Kimura fired a 75 in his second round to finish the first day at three-over-par in a tie for 31st.
Radwanski is playing as an individual for this week, and he carded birdies on the par-four 1st, par-five 11
th, and par-three 16
th.
In the second round, Carl shot the low round for West Chester, carding an even-par 70 with birdies on the par-three 10
th, par-five 11
th, par-four 17
th, par-four first, par-four third, and par-three fifth to sit in seventh on the individual leaderboard at two-under through 36 holes.
In his second round, Radwanski shot a 71, despite an eagle on the par-five 11
th, to sit in eighth on the individual leaderboard.
