PAUL ARTHUR ROTH LINES UP A PUTT FROM JUST OFF THE 18TH GREEN AT SUNNEHANNA COUNTRY CLUB IN THE NCAA ATLANTIC/EAST REGIONAL ON MAY 9, 2026

Roth Named PSAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year; Joined by Carl on Second Team All-League Squad

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) released its 2025-26 men's golf Major Awards and All-Conference honorees on Thursday afternoon. Paul-Arthur Roth (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) became the Golden Rams first PSAC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year since Chris Warner in 2018 and was one of two All-PSAC selections as Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) joined Roth on the Second Team All-League squad.

Roth is the sixth men's Freshman of the Year in program history and the first under head coach Chris Merce as the most recent honoree was Chris Warner in 2017-18 and Tyler Maiman before him in 2025-26. This is the second postseason honor of the year for Roth as he was also recognized as a GCAA/Ping All-Region selection earlier this month.

Roth recorded four top-five finishes in his rookie season as a Golden Ram, including his first Tournament victory at the King University Invitational in Tennessee in his second collegiate start in September, and a fifth-place finish at the PSAC Men's Golf Championships in October, which helped West Chester to the PSAC Tournament crown. In Tennessee, Roth finished the Tournament at -7 with an opening round of 68 and a second round of 65 to climb five spots in the final round and capture his first Tournament crown. E concluded his rookie season at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championships at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown, finishing 58th in the 126-player field with a 54-hole score of +16, including a final round of 74 (+4), which was second best on the team on a day that began in challenging rainy conditions.

Carl is the Golden Rams second and final All-League honoree after a strong rookie season of his own, which allowed him to join Roth on the Second Team. Carl played in 25 rounds over the course of 12 Tournaments for West Chester in 2025-26 and posted an adjusted scoring average of 74.7, with his top finish being a third-place showing at the Division I Metropolitan Intercollegiate in late October to finish the fall season. Carl also finished 10th at the PSAC Championships with a 54-hole score of eight-over, including a final round of 74 (+2), including four birdies that helped the Golden Rams capture the PSAC Tournament crown.
