JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- Finishing its first team Regional Championship appearance since 2022 and its first under head coach
Chris Merce, West Chester University men's golf fired a final round of 296 to place ninth at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional Championships at Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown with a 54-hole score of 884 (295, 293, 296).
Yamato Kimura (Kuwana Mie, Japan/Monteverde Academy) fired a team-best final round of 73 to finish in a tie for 22nd at +7 (73, 71, 73; 217), while
Will Hilton (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished in a tie for 25th at +8 (70, 74, 74; 218), including a four-over 74 in his final round of the Regional Tournament.
"While disappointed in the result this weekend, this weekend doesn't take anything away from the success we had this season," opened head coach
Chris Merce. "There are a lot of positives to take away from the year, and I'm excited to move ahead with this group into next season."
Kimura carded two more birdies in his final round on Saturday, recording his first of the day on the par-four sixth after a double bogey on the par-three fifth before carding his final and seventh birdie of the Tournament on the par-four 18th. Hilton picked up his first and only birdie of the final round on the par-three 14th, while
Paul-Arthur Roth (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) started his day with a birdie on the par-four first before carding his second and final birdie of the week on the par-three 10th.
