JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) shot a final round of 74 (+4) to finish the Sunnehanna Collegiate at +2(68, 70, 74; 212) in a tie for seventh on the individual leaderboard as he helped West Chester finish in a tie for third on the team leaderboard with a 54-hole score of 862 (278, 291, 293; 862) with a 293 in the final round on Tuesday.
West Chester finished in a tie for third on the team leaderboard with Indiana (Pa.) and Wheeling as all three squads recorded a 293 on Tuesday afternoon. In fact, West Chester was one of five schools in the field to card a 293 in the final round and was tied for the third-best final round team score, trailing only Shepherd (284) and Millersville (292) in the final round. Gannon, the team Champion, shot a 298 (+18) in the final round to hold on for the team title.
Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) turned in the best round of the day for West Chester, signing for a two-under 68 with birdies on the par-four second, par-five ninth, par-five 11
th, par-four 12
th, and par-four 18
th.
West Chester led the field in birdies this week with 49, but also ranked third in bogeys with 67. The team took full advantage of the par-fives around Sunnehanna Country Club, playing those holes at five-under for the week with a 4.89 scoring average, which was tied for fourth best in the field. West Chester also recorded the fifth-best scoring average on par-threes at 3.21 and the sixth-best on par-fours at 4.18.
