GETTYSBURG, Pa.- Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and
William Hilton (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) each fired a two-under-par 70 in the opening round of the WCU Battlefield Classic to sit in a tie for first on the individual leaderboard and help West Chester to a lead on the team leaderboard after the first round on Monday. As a team, West Chester shot a 290 on Monday with Jozwiak, Hilton, and
Paul-Arthur Roth (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) sitting in the top five after the opening round, as Roth is tied for fourth with an opening round 74 (+2).
Jozwiak carded birdies on the par-four 10
th, par-four 11
th, and par-five 13
th on the back nine before adding another birdie on the 589-yard par-five fifth as he came down the stretch of his opening round on Monday. In his collegiate debut, Hilton carded a pair of birdies in his opening nine on the par-five 13
th and par-four 16
th before adding birdies on the par-five fifth and par-three sixth with only two bogeys along the way to tie for the lead after the opening round.
