Demesy Sets Conference and School Record, Finishes Fourth in the 1000 Free

EVANSVILLE, IN – Senior distance swimmer, Paul Demesy (Saint Ulrich, France) set a new Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and school record while finishing fourth in the 1000-yard freestyle on the second day of competition at the 2026 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships.
 
Demesy swam a time of 8 minutes, 58.08 seconds in the morning session on Wednesday and was fourth overall after the evening swims were completed. He was an All-American as a Top 8 finisher. Teammate Marti Rosell Diez (L'Albiol, Spain) swam the 1000 in 9:06.75 in the morning, which proved to be the fifth fastest time of that session. He placed 12th overall to earn an honorable mention All-America certificate.
 
The third day of competition opens up tomorrow morning with prelims in the 200 free where Diez will be back in the pool.
