PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C.- The West Chester University men's golf team opened its spring season on Monday at the Founders Club at Pawleys Island for the Pawleys Island Beach Bash. West Chester is third on the team leaderboard after shooting a 302 in its first round of the spring and is just five strokes back of second-place Gannon heading into the final round on Tuesday.
Paul Arthur Roth (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) birdied the par-four 18
th and par-five sixth to record the low round of the day for West Chester with an even-par 72, which is good enough for fourth on the individual leaderboard.
Yamato Kimura (Kuwana Mie, Japan/Monteverde Academy) joins Roth in the top-10 after the first round at two-over (74) after carding a birdie on the par-four 13
th for his lone birdie of the afternoon.
With two players tied atop the leaderboard at two-under, Wayne State also holds the team lead after opening the Tournament with a two-under 286, 11 strokes clear of Gannon in second with an opening round of 297.
