WEST CHESTER, PA – West Chester University's women's lacrosse team begins a stretch of three home games out of a four-game stretch to close the regular season on Wednesday at Vonnie Gros Field. The Golden Rams welcome in Shepherd University for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division contest.

West Chester (11-2, 7-1 PSAC East) is ranked 11th in the most recent IWLCA coaches' poll and trails East Stroudsburg by one game in the division standings. Shepherd (2-9, 1-6) is looking to snap a three-game losing streak while evening the season series with the Golden Rams. West Chester claimed a 20-6 victory over Shepherd last month in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Â

WEST CHESTER-SHEPHERD LAST GAME …
Kendall Fortune and
Sydney Wasdick each scored four goals, and Lila McMahon-Skates finished with a game-high eight points as visiting West Chester downed homestanding Shepherd, 20-6.

West Chester won its seventh straight contest, following a season-opening loss.

The Golden Rams opened the tilt with six straight goals and never looked back. Wasdick powered that spurt with a pair of goals and an assist. A seven-goal run through much of the third and beginning of the fourth put the game away. Fortune scored three of her four tallies during that run.

West Chester scored four extra-player goals and even added a player-down marker. Freshman
Riley MacHenry scored her first college goal in the fourth quarter.

Morgan Koons made three saves in the first half to improve to 7-0 in the cage for West Chester. Each of the Golden Rams' other goalkeepers played a quarter each in the second half.

WEST CHESTER LAST TIME OUT …
West Chester opened a large lead with a 6-1 run in the second quarter to eventually walk past host Kutztown, 18-4, on a Sunny, but windy Wednesday afternoon at Keystone Field.

With the win, No. 11 West Chester kept pace with first-place East Stroudsburg, who defeated Bloomsburg Wednesday, while increasing its lead over No. 15 Kutztown (7-5, 3-4) to 3.5 games with four to play while also sweeping the season series from the Golden Bears.

The Golden Rams won their fourth consecutive match thanks to a swarming defense and a dominant second quarter. After Kutztown opened the scoring early in the game, West Chester responded with eight unanswered tallies to take an 8-1 advantage with just over three minutes left in the first half. Lila McMahon-Skates scored four of those eight goals.
Marissa Herring notched a pair of goals herself.
Sydney Wasdick and
Avery Roberts scored the other two markers in the decisive run.

SHEPHERD LAST TIME OUT …
Kayla Stressman scored five goals to lead Bloomsburg to a 17-11 win over Shepherd in PSAC East women's lacrosse action on Senior Day at Ram Stadium on Saturday.
Junior midfielde Aubrey Harrison led the Rams with three goals. Senior attacker Rebekah added a pair of goals and three assists. Harrison also had a team-high four draw controls.
Sophomore attacker Kloey Batchellor netted two goals, while sophomore attacker Grace Meyer had a goal and an assist.

West Chester heads to Bloomsburg on Saturday for its final road game of the regular season against the Huskies. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
