INDIANA, Pa.- The West Chester University men's golf team erased a three-stroke deficit in the second round with a team score of 292, led by an even-par 71 from
Yamato Kimura (Kuwana Mie, Japan/Monteverde Academy) (+1, 72, 71; 143) to capture the Cecil C. Spadafora Invitational team title with a two-day score of 588 (296, 292).
Kimura sat atop the individual leaderboard for much of his second round on Wednesday after carding three more birdies, including the par-five fifth, par-four sixth, and par-three seventh before a bogey on the 17
th coupled with an Eli Ropietski birdie on the par-five 18
th allowed him to capture the individual title without a playoff on Wednesday.
Kimura finished the Tournament tied for second in the field in birdies with seven, along with teammate
Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson), as Kimura led the field in par-four scoring average at 3.89 (-2). This effort helped West Chester lead the field in team scoring average on both the par-threes and par-fours of Indiana Country Club at 3.30 (+15) and 4.17 (+15), respectively en route to the fourth team title of the season for the Golden Rams, who entered the week second in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings.
