WEST CHESTER, Pa.- The West Chester University women's golf team is set to return to the course on Monday afternoon for its first Tournament in April as the Golden Rams host the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational at Penn Oaks Golf Club in West Chester. Monday's first round will begin at 1 p.m. with the second round on Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. as the Golden Rams host their annual Spring Invitational in honor of legendary golf coach Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell, who passed away last Spring at the age of 103.

West Chester heads into action on Monday after a third-place finish at the Pasty Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, North Carolina, on March 24. West Chester finished with a 54-hole team score of 969 (307, 326, 336), led by
Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium), who finished the Tournament at +14 (69, 78, 80; 227) to finish in a tie for second on the individual leaderboard. Lignell was the lone Golden Ram in the top-20 as
Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) was next closest in a tie for 22
nd at +31 (77, 84, 83; 244) as her outstanding rookie season continues.
Honoring the Legend
Monday's first round marks the start of the second Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational since the Golden Rams legendary mentor passed away at 103 last spring. West Chester will have two teams entered in the field this week and will compete alongside Shepherd, Jefferson, New Haven, and Adelphi.

After a near record high on Saturday afternoon, a Sunday rainstorm cooled things down dramatically as temperatures will hover in the low 50s and high 40s on Monday and Tuesday under sunny skies before warming back up in time for the weekend.
