WEST CHESTER, Pa.- After earning PSAC East Athlete of the Week honors on Monday afternoon,
Julian Costa (Mantua, N.J./Clearview) earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week honor of the year for Costa, as he also earned this honor in March after throwing his second career no-hitter against Frostburg State.
The senior left-hander turned in another complete-game shutout on Friday against the Golden Bears to improve to 6-1 on the year as Costa struck out a career-high 12 and allowed just four hits on 85 pitches in seven innings of work. The veteran also moved into solo second place on the career wins chart with 28 as he continues his pursuit of Jeff Brennan's career win record of 30 after breaking the career strikeout record earlier this spring.
West Chester earned a non-league victory over Chestnut Hill on Monday afternoon and will be back in action on Friday for the opening doubleheader of its four-game weekend series with Shippensburg beginning at 1 p.m.
