FRISCO, Texas – The 2025-26 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team was announced Monday with 1,551 golfers across all divisions recognized with this prestigious honor. Among those honored were four West Chester University Golden Rams.
Freshmen
Cara Murphy (Massillon, Ohio/Jackson) and
Taryn Brandt (Denton, Md./North Caroline), along with sophomore
(Fatima Rizvi Lucknow (India/RPS Academies), and senior
Hanna Lignell (Gothenburg, Sweden/Kitas Gymnasium), represented West Chester on the list of scholar All-Americans.
The criteria for selection to the All-American scholar team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must: have an overall cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season, have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
Lignell was named athlete of the year and first team all-conference in the PSAC this season, along with Murphy, who earned freshman of the year and second team all-league honors. Lignell was joined on the first team by while Rizvi and Brandt joined Murphy on the second team all-league squad.
The foursome helped lead West Chester to the NCAA Regionals for just the second time in school history.
