WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Following a PSAC Championship and an NCAA Atlantic/East Regional appearance at Sunnehanna Country Club last May, the West Chester University men's golf team returns an experienced lineup with lofty aspirations for the season ahead.
In head coach
Chris Merce's third season at the helm, West Chester employed a youthful lineup, which included three freshman and a pair of juniors to win the program's sixth PSAC Championship before using a similarly young lineup to finish ninth at the NCAA Regional Championships at Sunnehanna to finish out the season.
Paul-Arthur Roth (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) was named PSAC Men's Golf Rookie of the Year and was the first Golden Ram to receive this honor since Chris Warner in 2018 after an outstanding rookie season, which saw him post a 74.5 adjusted scoring average with four top-five finishes in his rookie season. Roth, who was a PING All-Region selection and placed fifth at the PSAC Championships last fall, was joined on the All-League squad by
Patrick Carl (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) as a fellow Second Team All-League honoree and posted a 74.7 adjusted scoring average, including a 10
th-place finish at the PSAC Championships during the fall campaign.
In addition to the return of Roth and Carl, West Chester also welcomes back fellow sophomores
Nathan Radwanski (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) and
Will Hilton (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) along with junior
Alex Marchetti (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and seniors
Yamato Kimura (Kuwana Mie, Japan/Monteverde Academy) and
Evan Jozwiak (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson).
West Chester also welcomes newcomers
Carson Hummer (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) and
Vaughn Brodowski (Wilmington, N.C./Coastal Christian).
The Golden Rams get their 2026-27 season underway on Wednesday in West Virginia at the UC Invitational alongside Charleston, Gannon, Fairmont State, Wheeling, West Virginia State, Point Park, Glenville State, Winston Salem State, IUP, Davis & Elkins, Virginia Union, Bluefield State, West Virginia Wesleyan, Fayetteville State, Concord, Wilmington, and Hocking College.
When play concludes in West Virginia on Thursday, West Chester will prepare for the WCU Battlefield Classic in Gettysburg on September 21 and 22 before finishing September with a return to Sunnehanna Country Club in Johnstown on September 28 and 29. West Chester will begin October in Ohio for the Kyle Ryman Memorial, hosted by Tiffin, on October 5 and 6,, ahead of the PSAC Championships at Iron Valley on October 16-18. West Chester will finish off its fall slate in New York for the Iona Wykagyl Collegiate in New Rochelle on October 26 and 27.
