Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
- Senior forward Sarah Oswald scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others to lead No. 13 West Chester University to a 5-0 shutout over visiting Shippensburg University on an overcast and windy Tuesday afternoon at South Campus Field.

West Chester (11-1-0, 9-10 PSAC) kept pace with the top of the pack in the conference standings while Shippensburg fell to 8-5-1, 5-5-1 in the PSAC.

Oswald broke the school record for career assists when she fed Jen Gangle in the 52nd minute to give West Chester a commanding 3-0 lead. Oswald has 30 assists in her four-year career, after recording just one assist her freshman season. Her two goals in the game give her 51 in her career and 132 points overall.

Oswald opened the scoring off a corner kick, bending the kick into the far end of the net in the 19th minute. Three minutes later, Oswald almost pulled off the exact same trick. However, Tara Malkiewicz was standing on the far post and deflected the ball into the goal for a 2-0 advantage.

Oswald scored her second of the game in the 63rd minute dribbling down the right side and crossing in front of the Shippensburg goal, beating four defenders with her footwork. Raiders' goalkeeper Shelbie Rackley came out to cut down the angle, but Oswald chipped the ball over her head and into the empty net to give the Rams a 4-0 lead.

Rachel Miller finished off the scoring in the 89th minute with her first of the year.

Lyndsie Bernardini (10-1-0) didn't have to make a save in the win. Rackley made three saves in the second half and allowed three goals. Starter Megan Delio made five saves in the first half and allowed a pair of goals.

West Chester will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to PSAC-leading Cal for a 2:30 p.m. showdown to determine first place in the league standings.
