Five Things to Know:
- West Chester's six-game unbeaten streak to open the season came to a halt on Wednesday night as the Golden Rams fell to Kutztown on the road by a 1-0 final after the Golden Bears took the lead on a 29th-minute goal by Corinne Morgan. West Chester applied heavy pressure down the stretch and finished the game with a 10-5 lead in shots (6-4 in shots on goal) and a 7-4 lead in corners, including a 6-2 lead in shots and a 7-3 lead in corners, but was unable to break through in the one-goal loss.
- PSAC East Athlete of the Week, Jordan Nguyen (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Central) remains the Golden Rams' leading scorer with five goals and an assist for 11 points on the year after her hat trick against Mansfield on Saturday, while Kianna Barber (Browns Mills, N.J./BCIT) and Abigail Hanemann (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) have two goals each along with two and one assist for six and five points, respectively. Grace Keen (Lincoln University, Pa./Avon Grove) suffered her first loss of the season Wednesday night at Kutztown, falling to 5-1-1 with a 0.48 goals-against average and a hand in four shutouts.
- Wednesday night's setback was the first time the Golden Rams have been shut out in a regular-season match since a scoreless draw at Shippensburg last September and is the Golden Rams' first regular-season shutout loss since a 1-0 setback to No. 14 Shepherd in the regular-season finale in 2024.
- Lackawanna picked up its first win of the season on September 9 with a 1-0 loss to Mansfield but has dropped four straight since then, falling to Millersville (2-0), Bloomsburg (5-0), Shepherd (6-0), and East Stroudsburg (6-0). Kosisochukwu Nwozuzu scored Lackawanna's first goal in its new era against Mansfield and remains the Falcons' lone goal scorer. Sophia Arvelo remains busy in goal, making 74 saves in 720 minutes of action and posting a 1-7-0 record with a 4.75 goals-against average this season.
- West Chester started its history against Lackawanna earlier this fall with a dominant 6-0 win over the Falcons thanks to five second-half goals, including a pair by Emma Suhoski (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) in the 58th and 59th minutes to cruise to the 6-0 victory. Brielle Zink (Islip, N.Y./Islip) scored the first and only first-half goal for West Chester before Grace Trott (Fulton, Md./Mount De Sales Academy), Hanemann, Suhoski, and Hailey Primwhere (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) found the back of the net in the second half.
