WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Devon Tucker, Brittney Miller and Cheryl Johnson each scored a pair of trys, and Megan Lamm added six conversions as host West Chester University shutout visiting York College, 72-0, in a non-league women's rugby match Saturday afternoon.
A pair of seniors opened the scoring on Senior Day for West Chester (8-5) as Drew Groswith and Krista Seibert each pushed across a try in the first seven minutes of the game to put West Chester ahead, 10-0. For Seibert, it was the first try of her college career.
West Chester would go on to score four more trys before the half was out with Megan Lamm converting all four to give the Golden Rams a commanding 38-0 lead at the break. Johnson scored two of the trys on runs of 45- and 30-meters. Sara Waltman and Ali Vandermay scored the other two trys in the first half.
Tucker and Miller each posted a pair of trys in the second half. Maddie Kreibel and Anna McGlade scored the other two trys for the Golden Rams. Nine different Rams scored on the afternoon.
West Chester concludes the 2009-10 campaign with three straight wins, including two shutouts, while averaging 63 points over that same span.
