WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Alisha Moran scored a goal on breakaway, but top-ranked North Carolina proved to be too much for West Chester University in a 7-1 victory over the Golden Rams on the second day of the fifth annual Vonnie Gros Classic.
West Chester (3-2) played an inspired second half against the powerful Tar Heels (5-0). Moran gathered in a long clear down the near sidelines and walked in all alone along the end line, before tucking the ball past UNC goalkeeper Jackie Kintzer in the 53rd minute to make the score, 6-1.
Jaclyn Radvany and Kelsey Kolojejchick each scored a pair of goals for North Carolina, who finished the tournament with two wins to remain perfect in its five years at the Vonnie Gros Classic (10-0). Elizabeth Drazdowski scored a goal and assisted on another for the Heels.
West Chester red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Kristin Arnold made 13 saves in a spectacular effort in the cage. North Carolina outshot its hosts by a 27-8 margin.
The Golden Rams travel to Towson on Friday for a 6 p.m. contest against the Tigers.
