West Chester (15-4) and Lock Haven (16-3) seem to be on another collision course in the NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament when the pairings are announced May 9. The Golden Rams are currently third in the South Region with the Eagles ranked second.
Lock Haven claimed its third straight conference crown with all three coming over West Chester. It marked the sixth straight year in which these two schools have played for the conference crown. West Chester won the title in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Lock Haven took the title in 2009 and 2010, before winning it again on Saturday.
West Chester trailed 10-6 with under nine minutes remaining, but made another valiant late-game push at the end to get to within one. The comeback brought back memories of last year's epic NCAA semifinal match that saw the Golden Rams down the Lady Eagles with a similar come-from-behind effort.
Saturday, however, Lock Haven's goalkeeper came up with two of the biggest saves of her career on Devon Lotkowski and Claire Grimwood.
