SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Jen Hutchinson scored a pair of goals and Shannon Fedyk registered her sixth shutout of the season as visiting West Chester defeated host Shippensburg, 5-0, in a PSAC women's soccer match Wednesday evening at David See Field.
With the win, West Chester (7-0, 4-0 PSAC) remains undefeated on the year and picks up three more points in the league standings to remain on top of the conference. Meanwhile, Shippensburg (3-3-2, 1-3-1) remains in the middle of the pack.
Hutchinson notched her first two goals of the season as West Chester built an insurmountable lead in the first half and then relied on its stingy defense to keep the Raiders at bay the rest of the night.
Fedyk (7-0) made three saves in recording her sixth shutout of the year. West Chester held a commanding 32-4 advantage in shots for the contest.
Melissa McKeary, Brianna Hires and Cora Littlejohns scored the Rams' other three goals. Carly Yost and Ashley Saylor each recorded an assist in the win.
West Chester returns home on Saturday to host California (Pa.) at noon in the first game of a doubleheader with the men's squad.
