Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Ashley Saylor scored twice to lead host West Chester to a 2-0 victory over visiting Shippensburg University in a PSAC women's soccer contest at South Campus Field Tuesday afternoon.

West Chester (8-3-0, 7-3-0 PSAC) moved into a three-way tie for first place with California (Pa.) and Kutztown as a result of the win. Shippensburg (6-4-0, 5-4-0) drops to 2-3 in its last five with the loss.

Saylor notched her second of the year in the 25th minute when she headed in a feed from teammate Dana Hunt from about 10 yards out, putting the hosts on top. Hunt served up the header from about 25 yards out that Saylor flicked past a diving Shelbie Rackley (8 saves).

She got her second of the game in the 89th minute when she shot from just inside the penalty area hit the far post and ricocheted into the net. Teammate Lexi Brown sent Saylor and Marie D'Angelo in on a two-on-one break. Saylor played the ball to her right past an outstretched Rackley.

With the shutout, West Chester has now blanked its last five opponents and six of its last seven. The Golden Rams have not allowed a goal in 520 minutes of soccer. Goalkeeper Alex Srolis (6-2) recorded her sixth shutout of the year.

Shippensburg had several opportunities, including a pair of near-equalizers in the second half. Junior Kate Zech had a chance that Srolis dove and smothered, and junior Brooke Clippinger sent a shot that went over the crossbar in the 85th minute.

West Chester travels to Millersville on Saturday for another pivotal PSAC matchup with the Marauders.
