West Chester Pushes Pitt-Johnstown To Five But Falls, 3-2

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Host West Chester pushed second-place Pitt-Johnstown to five games, but the visiting Mountain Cats puled out the PSAC East contest, 3-2, Saturday afternoon inside Hollinger Field House.

West Chester (14-17, 6-14 PSAC East) dropped its second match of the weekend, all but sealing the Golden Rams fate as it pertains to a playoff spot. Pitt-Johnstown (22-8, 14-6) was able to keep pace with Shippensburg with the win. UPJ took the match by scores of 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 28-30 and 15-11.

Julia O'Brien led all Golden Rams with 16 kills while Tyler Shaefer had 12 and Paige Thommes had 11 kills. Tori Hutchinson posted 26 assists while Mandy Flynn had 19.

Callie Krajcir had 25 digs while Shaefer added 21 to cap her double-double performance. Marina Sharkey had eight blocks.

West Chester concludes its 2013 campaign next weekend at East Stroudsburg on Friday and at Kutztown Saturday.
