LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Eighth-ranked Lock Haven University won the battle of the unbeatens in league play on Sunday afternoon, taking down fifth-ranked West Chester University, 11-6, a Charlotte Smith Field.
West Chester (11-3, 8-1 PSAC) falls into a tie for second place in the league standings while Lock Haven (12-1, 9-0) takes over sole possession of first place and has the inside track to hosting the PSAC Tournament at the end of the regular-season.
Lock Haven held West Chester’s high-powered offense to its lowest goal output of the season. The Golden Rams managed just three goals in each of the two halves while the Lady Eagles scored seven times in the first half and four times in the second.
Lock Haven scored five of the game’s first six goals and led 5-1 with just under nine minutes left before halftime.
Lauren Glassey finished with four goals, and Nicole Pyle had two. Jess Henderson (10-3) made four saves in goal.
West Chester hosts Kutztown at Vonnie Gros Field on Tuesday afternoon, before finishing up the regular season with LeMoyne on Friday and Edinboro on Saturday. Both of those games are on the road. The Kutztown match will be the final game played at Vonnie Gros Field this spring.
