LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University, once again, finds itself in the conference semifinals competing for a PSAC championship. The seventh-ranked Golden Rams face No. 12 Indiana (Pa.) on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Charlotte E. Smith Field.

West Chester (13-4) earned the second seed in the PSAC Tournament and a first-round bye into the semifinals. IUP (13-2) defeated Gannon, 19-10, in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday to stamp its ticket to the semifinals. Top-seed and host Lock Haven faces Bloomsburg in the other semifinal on Friday. The two winners meet in the PSAC Championship Game on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Tickets to the 2013 PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championships are $7 for adults and $2 for students. Students from PSAC member institutions with a valid I.D. are admitted free.

The Golden Rams are making their 13th consecutive trip to the PSAC Tournament. West Chester has won a league-record 20 conference titles and sports a 21-5 record in the PSAC postseason tournament since 1994. Friday’s semifinal matchup with IUP marks the first time that West Chester will face the Crimson Hawks in the women’s lacrosse tournament. The two squads met earlier this year in Indiana with the Rams coming out on top, 15-8.

West Chester shows a 4-3 record against Lock Haven in the PSAC Tournament. Those two perennial powers played for the conference crown six straight years with each side winning three times. That run of six ended last spring when both West Chester and Lock Haven were upset in the semifinals.

The Golden Rams are 6-2 all-time against Bloomsburg in the PSACs. All six of West Chester ‘s wins over Bloomsburg have come in the championship game. West Chester was knocked out of the tournament a year ago in the semifinals by the Huskies, who went on to win the conference crown. It was the first time in school history that the Rams lost a PSAC semifinal contest since the league went to a final four format in 2004. WCU is 8-1 all-time in the semfinal round of the PSACs.

West Chester is in search of its first PSAC title since 2008. The four-year drought is the longest West Chester has gone without winning the PSAC championship in school history.
