LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Tori Dugan, Jamie Dolan and Lauren Glassey each scored twice as seventh-ranked West Chester University defeated 12th-ranked Indiana (Pa.), 7-6, in the semifinals of the 2013 PSAC Women’s Lacrosse Tournament Friday afternoon at Charlotte E. Smith Field.
West Chester (14-4) advances to the PSAC Championship game for the 18th time since 1994 in search of the school’s first conference title since 2008. The Golden Rams have won a league-record 20 conference crowns. IUP finishes the season at 13-3. West Chester will face Lock Haven on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the championship game. It marks the seventh time in the last eight years that these two rivals will decide the PSAC Championship in women’s lacrosse.
With the game all tied up at 6-6 and under two minutes left to play, Glassey notched the game-winning goal with 1:40 left off an assist from Dugan to lift the Golden Rams into the championship game.
The Crimson Hawks, who held a 4-3 lead at halftime, opened the second half with a goal two minutes into the action for their largest lead of the game. West Chester answered with three straight goals almost six minutes apart. Glassey started the rally with an unassisted marker at the 16:46 mark. Four minutes later, Brittany Long finished off a pass from Gina Eberwein to knot the game at 5-all. Dugan then put the Rams on top, 6-5, with 11 minutes left.
IUP’s Drew Hayden scored her second goal of the game with two minutes left to tie the score once again at 6-6.
Jess Henderson (13-4) made 11 saves in the cage for West Chester to get the win. IUP’s Kaitlin Sterling made seven saves in the loss.
