Box Score KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Julia O’Brien posted 13 kills and four blocks, and freshman
Analee Halbert recorded 33 assists, while adding six kills, as West Chester downed Davis & Elkins in the 2013 season opener Friday afternoon at the Kutztown Classic.
West Chester (1-0) took the first two sets (25-15), (25-14), before Davis & Elkins (0-1) responded to take set three (25-20). The Golden Rams rebounded quickly by scoring the first six points in the fourth to close out the match (25-15).
The young Golden Rams trailed 8-6 in the first set, before turning it around, finishing the set with kills from Halbert and two from
Paige Thommes, who had seven kills in her first college match.
Marina Sharkey also had seven kills. The Golden Rams ended the match with a 45-24 advantage in kills, and a 10-3 difference with blocks.
Next up for West Chester is a 2:30 p.m.start against Caldwell College, followed immediately by a 4:30 match vs. Southern New Hampshire University tomorrow at the Kutztown Classic.
