WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's men's soccer team opens the postseason with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Quarterfinal Round game against Slippery Rock at Rockwell Field at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

West Chester (9-7-0, 7-4-0 PSAC) enters the postseason tournament as the fourth seed. Slippery Rock (11-6-0, 7-4-0) begins defense of it's 2013 conference championship as the fifth seed. Slippery Rock, who closed out the regular season this past Saturday with a 3-0 victory over West Chester at Rockwell Field, returns to the scene of the season finale Tuesday.

Tickets to all rounds of the 2014 PSAC Tournament are $7 for adults and $2 for children. There are no comp tickets available for playoff games. Only PSAC passes will be accepted. Students from PSAC member institutions with a valid ID will be admitted free of charge as well. Parking for the quarterfinal round game at Rockwell Field Tuesday will be across the street in Farrell Stadium's lot. The soccer lot will be blocked off for handicapped parking, game officials and event staff working the event.

The winner of Tuesday's quarterfinal round match advances to the conference semifinals on the weekend. Regular-season champion Mercyhurst will host the semifinals and finals on Friday and Saturday. Second-seeded Bloomsburg received a bye into the semifinals, along with Mercyhurst. Third-seeded Seton Hill hosts sixth-seed California (Pa.) in the other quarterfinal Tuesday.

The Golden Rams have reached the conference semifinals in each of the past two years.

West Chester is making its third straight appearance in the postseason tournament. The Golden Rams show an overall tournament record of 2-9-1 in their previous 10 appearances. West Chester faces Slippery Rock in the postseason for the second time in three years. The Rams dropped a 1-0 decision to The Rock in 2012. West Chester has played for the conference title just once – 2004 – since the tournament was implemented in 1969. The Golden Rams have never won the PSAC championship.

West Chester University's women's soccer squad will host Gannon before the men's game Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at Rockwell Field.
