2014 PSAC Swimming Championships - Full Results
YORK, Pa. – West Chester University claimed its 16th straight and 27th overall Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference men's swimming championship at the York YMCA Sunday evening. The Golden Rams concluded the 56th PSAC Championships with a school record 1,036 points.
Â
Victor Polyakov was named the PSAC Male Swimmer of the Meet. It marked the eighth straight year in which a West Chester swimmer copped swimmer of the meet honors. The Golden Rams have dominated the award since 2006. Polyakov was a four-time individual champion, who set a PSAC mark in the 200-yard freestyle on the first night of the championships.
"(Winning) never gets old," WCU head coach Jamie Rudisill said. "For (the swimmers) its fresh because it's new to them. That's what makes it fun.
"Each year is different. We still have nationals, where we will be humbled again. We haven't been Top 10 at nationals in awhile, and we need to work our way back up there. We have a shot this year. But, we are still missing a few pieces, I think."
Â
Bradley Strathmeyer, last year's male swimmer of the meet, won the 1650 free in a time of 15 minutes, 36.29 seconds while teammate Jared Haley was right behind with a time of 15:37.92. Connor Forlini placed fifth in 15:59.24. Strathmeyer, a sophomore, repeated his conference crown from a year ago.
Â

Â
Michael O'Brien placed second in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 1:50.86 while Dan Sokman posted a third-place time of 1:51.67 and Evan DeaKyne was fourth in 1:52.70. Connor Murphy placed seventh in 1:57.91.
