NEWBERRY, S.C. – Sarah Dennison scored five goals and registered six points to lead No. 6 West Chester to an 18-5 victory over host Newberry College on a St. Patrick's Day matinee Monday afternoon.

West Chester (2-0) concludes its spring break trip south with two wins as the Golden Rams come home for their home opener Thursday at Vonnie Gros Field against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4 p.m.

Jordan Heidelbaugh registered a hat trick with three goals and one assist. Ashely Pyle, Erin Eckert and Olivia Martin each netted a pair of goals as well. Pyle chipped in an assist to finish with three points while Hannah Cowan scored once and assisted on two others to finish with three points.

Dennison also picked up four ground balls and caused five turnovers in the game.

Jess Henderson (2-0) made four saves going the distance in the cage for the win.

A pair of seven-goal outbursts by the Golden Rams put the game away early. The first came with the score tied at 1-1 apiece. Dennison scored twice, exactly one minute apart to start the run. She finished with four of her five goals in that spurt. She started the other seven-goal run late in the first half. That run continued on into the second half before Newberry could put an end to the string.

KerriAnn Barlage scored three times for Newberry. She now has 24 goals on the season.
