West Chester Powers Past Bloomsburg 91-74 For Third-Straight Win

West Chester, Pa. – West Chester senior guard Dallas Ely (Montrose, Pa. / Montrose) went for a team-high 24 points, while guard Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) poured on 20 points to help West Chester score a 91-74 victory over Bloomsburg inside Hollinger Fieldhouse Wednesday night.

The Golden Rams (7-4, 4-3 PSAC) extended their streak to three-straight wins in their last game before January. Bloomsburg (6-3, 3-3 PSAC) was only down a basket (19-17) after closing out the first quarter on a 5-0 run. They would commit 24 turnovers to allow WCU to stretch the lead out down the stretch.

WCU built an insurmountable lead during a 22-9 run in the second quarter where West Chester doubled up Bloomsburg, outscoring the Huskies by 18 at the half (50-32). Out of the break, the Golden Rams created their largest lead of 24 (63-39) with 5:08 to go in the third period of play. The Huskies battled back to be down as much as 12 twice, but could not put another stretch together and would fall by 17 in the end.

Center Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Trinity) went 5 for 7 for 16 points, to go with six rebounds in the win. Sophomore guard Porscha Speller (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) added 12 points, five assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Forward Kendall Benovy (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) put up 11 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds to round out the double-figure scorers for the team.

Huskies' guard and third leading scorer in the conference Mia Hopkins delivered a 22-point performance to lead her squad. She added seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Julia Gantz scored 18 points off the bench, while Morgan Klunk added 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Andreana Sadowski was held to 10 points, six rebounds, and a team-leading three blocks in the loss.
 
West Chester will be off for two weeks before taking on PSAC crossover Seton Hill on Sunday Jan. 3rd at 1 p.m.
