West Chester Falls To Cal In PSAC Championship Game, 86-70

Box Score

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Brittany Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) posted 24 points, but California (Pa.) pulled away late in the contest to capture the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Women's Basketball championship, 86-70, inside Nelson Field House Sunday afternoon.

West Chester (24-5) will await the NCAA Division II Selection Show Sunday night at 10 p.m. to find out when and where its season will continue. It will have to be an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. However, the Golden Rams' win over Indiana (Pa.) in the semifinals on Saturday all but guaranteed WCU a spot. Cal (26-4) gets the conference's automatic bid with its victory Sunday.

Cal's Miki Glenn was named the tournament's most valuable player. She had 30 points in Sunday's win while Emma Mahady contributed 21 for the Vulcans.

Cal made 33 of 35 free throws in the game. West Chester, which lived on the 3-point shot in the semifinals 24 hours earlier, hit just one of 11 attempts in the game and committed 17 turnovers.

The Golden Rams trailed by seven at halftime, and got within three points on a number of occasions in the second half. However, West Chester was held scoreless during a 2:20 span late in the game that let Cal extend a five-point lead (69-64) to 14 (78-64) and put the game away.

Anna Kuntz (Camp Hill, Pa./Trinity) scored 17 points, and Serifat Junaid (Chesilhurst, N.J./Camden Catholic) added 10. Chikisha Steele-Hook (Harrisburg, Pa./Susquehanna Twp.) had 10 rebounds.
