Pat Moriarty (Gladwyne, Pa./Harriton) threw three touchdown passes, and
Mike Class (Sauderton, Pa./Pennridge) rushed for a career-best 90 yards on 11 carries, as West Chester (5-3, 4-1 PSAC East) defeated visiting Cheyney (1-7, 0-5), 46-12, on Homecoming at John A. Farrell Stadium Saturday.

Leading 14-6 early in the second quarter, the Golden Rams scored four unanswered touchdowns to race out in front 41-6. When Cheyney finally answered on a 66-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown, West Chester's
Ted Patton (Wilmington, Del./McKean) intercepted the 2-point conversion attempt and returned it 102 yards for a defensive conversion to make it a 43-12 game.

Mark Dukes (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) rushed for a career-high 34 yards and scored his first college touchdown to put West Chester on top, 7-0, on the Golden Rams' first drive of the game.
Simon Williams (Lititz, Pa./Abington Heights) then doubled the lead with his first TD catch in the Purple & Gold.

Cheyney cracked into the scoring column when Brandon French ran in from two yards out with 8:34 left in the second half. The point-after attempt was wide. That TD run was set up by a 62-yard pass completion from Dominick Trautz to Devin Miller down to West Chester's 5-yard line.

From there, it was all West Chester.

Eerin Young (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) scored from 16 yards out and Jordan Banks caught a 4-yard TD pass on a slant within the final five minutes of the second quarter to put the hosts on top, 27-6, heading into the locker room.

Tyler Karpinski (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) then hauled in a fade in the back corner of the end zone from 18 yards to close out West Chester's opening drive of the third quarter and put them up 34-6. Senior
Matt Sharp (Rayleigh, Great Britain) caught a 9-yard TD pass in the back of the end zone for his first college reception and score that put West Chester in front, 41-6.

After Samuel Anojulu returned a West Chester punt 66 yards for a score, and Patton scampered the length of the field with his defensive conversion,
Blaise Toroni (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) kicked his first college field goal from 25 yards out with 4:27 to play in the game to close out the scoring.

West Chester's defense held Cheyney to 151 yards of total offense for the game. But, the story of the contest was the Golden Rams' defense in the second half. It held the Wolves to -30 yards on just 13 plays after halftime. Cheyney completed a 62-yard pass and busted off a 58-yard run in the game. Those two plays accounted for 120 of the visitor's 151 yards in the game.
