AIC Women's Rugby Too Much For West Chester, 56-10

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Aalea Ray (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and Lizzy Groff (Glenmoore, Pa./Downingtown East) each had a try, but host American International College was too much for visiting West Chester, scoring a 56-10 victory over the Golden Rams in a women's rugby match Sunday afternoon.

WCU took the field today in their second game of the weekend and matched up against the American International College (AIC) Yellow Jackets. In the rainy and cold conditions, WCU was not able to pull out a win today and fell to AIC 56-10.

The Golden Rams were pushed on the back foot at the start of the game and AIC put 19 points on the board before WCU flanker Lizzie Groff (Glenmoore, Pa. / Downingtown East High School) scored at 32 minutes. At the end of the first half, AIC controlled the lead 24-5 and WCU used half time to regroup and focus on finding more opportunities to score.

In the second half, flyhalf Aalea Ray broke through the strong AIC defense and added 5 more points to the board. Final score 56-10.

West Chester hosts Notre Dame (Ohio) next Saturday at 11 a.m. at the rugby pitch.
