West Chester Women Sweep Tri-Match With Ursinus and Albright

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Megan Burns (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) won three events and helped two relays win as well in leading West Chester University's women's swimming team to a sweep of its Golden Rams Classic Saturday inside Graham Natatorium.
 
West Chester accumulated 1,192 points, easily outdistancing Ursinus College (584) and Albright College (136) in its final meet before finals and the holiday break. Head coach Jamie Rudisill mentioned that the wininng times in the 1650-yard freestyle, 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly, 100 free and 200 breaststroke are among the best results in a single session by a women's team at West Chester in quite some time.
 
"WCU made an emphatic mark on the PSAC with this meet," Rudisill stated.
 
West Chester won every event in the meet except for the 100 butterfly.
 
Burns, who won the 200 Individual Medley in a personal-best time on Friday, set new personal bests in the both the 400 IM (4:30.02) and the 100 backstroke (57.73) on Saturday while finishing second in the 200 backstroke in a personal-best time of 2:06.55.
 
Freshman Megan Keithly (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) displayed her best times of the winter season to date this past weekend as well. The local product won both the 100 and 200 butterfly with personal-best times of 55.52 and 2:02.98, respectively. She also produced the fastest split on the 800 free relay team that took first place honors (55.31) and led off the 400 free relay team that took the top spot as well.
 
Georgia Wright (Doncaster, Pa.) won both the 1650 free (17:06.88) and the 200 backstroke (2:02.91) while helping both the 800 free relay and 400 free relay to wins as well. Mikaela Lantz (Reading, Pa./21st Century Cyber School) continued her spectacular meet with a win in the 100 free (51.55) and a helping hand in the 200 medley relay win.
 
Emelie Johansson (Taby, Sweden) picked up a win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:18.72. She was second in the 100 breaststroke to Morgan Haney (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) and second in the 400 IM to Burns.
 
West Chester returns to the pool on Jan. 7 for a tri-meet with Johns Hopkins and The College of New Jersey.
