Women’s Rugby Falls to AIC

WEST CHESTER, Pa-
On a warm summer like Saturday morning the West Chester University women's rugby team (1-2) welcomed the American International College (AIC) (1-2) Yellowjackets to the South Campus Rugby pitch for an early season battle. The Yellowjackets would emerge victorious by a final score of 100-7.
How it Happened:
  • In the first half AIC opened the scoring early breaking through just three minutes into the game when Elizabeth Harvey scored a try and successful conversion to jump out to a 7-0 lead.
  • AIC would continue to attack scoring again just four minutes later when Hilaria Lymas broke through and following another Harvey conversion the lead grew to 14-0.
  • West Chester would break through in the 11th minute when Lili Riley(Doylestown, Pa./ Montgomery) broke through and had a successful conversion to cut the deficit to 14-7.
  • The Yellowjackets would take off from here scoring 29 points unanswered as Kayla Clark and Elizabeth Harvey both broke through another two times and Siale Alatini would add one of her own to give AIC the 43-7 lead at the half.
  • In the second half it was more of the same as AIC would continue to pour it on scoring 57 points on the half as Lymas, Harvey, Alatini, and Clark all continued to have big days. Bridget Kahele and Aohili Latu also broke through for tries of their own in the second half.
Inside the Numbers:
  • Riley scored her third try and of the year and added her 5th conversion to bring her total points for the season to 25.
Up Next:
Next Saturday the squad will welcome the University of Pittsburgh women's club rugby team to South Campus getting underway at 11 am.
